Child dies after drowning in backyard pool

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A 3-year-old has died after he reportedly drowned in a backyard pool.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescuers had to airlift the young child after his uncle discovered him at the bottom of the backyard family pool, located at 15760 SW 152nd Place, early Monday morning, according to neighbors.

A Miami-Dade Police spokesperson would later confirm the child's passing after air rescue flew the child, who was reportedly unconscious but breathing, to Miami Children's Hospital just after 12 noon.

Police and fire rescue administered CPR at the scene and worked on him, doing chest compressions, as they wheeled him to the waiting helicopter, which had landed near the home. Air rescue then flew the child, who was reportedly unconscious but breathing, to Miami Children's Hospital where doctors would later pronounce him deceased.

According to neighbors who would not speak on camera, the uncle who found him was going out to clean the pool when he made the discovery. It remains unknown for how long the boy was under water.

Before the boy died, three generations of an extended family lived at the home: grandparents, the child's mother and two uncles, along with the young boy.
