Former Holy Cross hospital employee released from jail

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A former Holy Cross Hospital employee has been released from jail after being accused of sexual battery on a patient Wednesday night.

Fort Lauderdale Police arrested 41-year-old Ivo Diaz Jr., an ultrasound technician, after a female patient said he committed three counts of sexual battery on her during her ultrasound sometime last May.

The hospital had already fired him on May 31, before police made their arrest, after he failed to keep his certification up to date.

The hospital would not provide a representative to go on camera, but Christine Moncrieffe, a spokesperson for Holy Cross released this statement: "Holy Cross Hospital is committed to the care and safety of its patients. The individual involved is no longer employed by the hospital and we are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation."

Police said the investigation is on-going looking, as they are looking into whether or not Diaz may have taken advantage of other patients at the hospital.

If you have any information on other potential victims of Diaz, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
