Dawson-Stevenson undercard nearly complete
The June 8 undercard on the event headlined by World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (31-2-0, 17 KOs) defending against Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (20-1-0, 17 KOs) at the historic Bell Centre in Montreal is now pretty much complete.
As previously noted, former two-time world champion Yuriorkis “El Ciclon” Gamboa (22-0-0, 16 KOs) will be showcased in the co-feature against Darley Perez (28-0-0, 19 KOs), as Gamboa makes a foray into the lightweight division. Other bouts include light heavyweight Eleider “Storm” Alvarez, middleweight KO artist David Lemieux, unbeaten heavyweight Didier “Big Daddy” Bence, former world amateur champion Artur Beterbiev and 2008 Puerto Rico Olympian Jose “Sniper” Pedraza. Kessler responds to Froch kill threat
After avoiding trash talk throughout the build-up for Saturday’s unification clash against WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler, IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch stopped pulling his punches when talking to a small group of boxing writers at Wednesday’s press conference in London. “If I have to, I will kill this f__ker,” quotes the Guardian’s Kevin Mitchell. “Sorry about the language, but I will kill him. It sounds brutal, it sounds horrible, but that is what this means to me.”
Tha Daily Mail’s Jeff Powell quotes Froch as saying “If I have to kill him to keep my title then I will. In fact, the way I feel now, I want to do him serious damage. Yes, kill him.”

Argentinian champion Omar “El Huracan” Narvaez and Mexican challenger Felipe “Gallito” Orucuta were present at a press conference Wednesday in Buenos Aires, Argentina for Narvaez’ fight next Saturday at the famed Luna Park. Narvaez, who is making the seventh defense of his WBO super flyweight world title, stated “I have defended my belt against other challengers who say they are younger and better than me and I emerged victorious. On Saturday will be no exception.”
Orucuta, accompanied by renowned Mexican Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain, said “I bring the best preparation of my career and this opportunity came at the right time in my boxing development. I will go back to Mexico with the belt.” (more…)
Mendez to start training for first defense
International Boxing Federation (IBF) super featherweight champion Argenis “The Thunderstorm” Mendez (21-2-, 10 KOs) has arrived in England and joined his trainer, Lee Beard, to prepare for his first title defense. Mendez, a 2004 Dominican Republic Olympian now living in Miami, captured the IBF crown this past March in a rematch, destroying defending champion Juan Carlos Salgado in four rounds. Mendez is scheduled to defend his crown in the middle of July against an opponent to be determined.

UFC 161 took a monstrous hit Tuesday when interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao was forced to withdraw from the main event against Eddie Wineland with a foot injury. However, the planet's most prestigious mixed martial arts promotion is doing its best to make it up to fans.
With a blink of an eye - or in this case, an injured foot - "UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland" has changed to "UFC 161: Henderson vs. Evans."
