The Community Scholars Program was created by MetroPCS to distinguish high school students who demonstrate not only academic achievement but also outstanding community involvement and service. The goal of the program is to recognize those students who are involved in volunteer activities that give back to their community and to help them pay for a college education.
The 15 Community Scholars will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to further their educational and civic interests. Recipients will be recognized during a special on-field, pre-game ceremony at the Florida Marlins game on Friday, May 27.
Each year we look forward to honoring South Floridas youth who have contributed to their communities in creative and meaningful ways, said Juan Moragas, vice president of sales and distribution for MetroPCS. The MetroPCS Community Scholars program is now in its third year and exemplifies not only our continued growth as a company, but the continued growth of this community.
