Cultural Council Announces Board Officer Election Results

R. Thomas Mayes Jr. and Gale G. Howden were reelected Chair and Vice Chair.
Michael J. Bracci and Pamela O. Dean were elected to their first term as Treasurer and Secretary.
All board officer terms are for one year.

The Palm Beach County Cultural Council Board of Directors recently announced its officer election results at the Cultural Council’s annual membership celebration held in conjunction with Artavox, a party for Palm Beach County artists.

R. Thomas Mayes Jr. and Gale G. Howden were reelected Chair and Vice Chair. Michael J. Bracci and Pamela O. Dean were elected to their first term as Treasurer and Secretary. All board officer terms are for one year.

Mr. Mayes is Regional Managing Director for Calibre, Wachovia’s Family Office, in Palm Beach. He is also a board member and serves on the executive committee of The Arc of Palm Beach. He also serves on the Board of Advisors of The Gathering Palm Beach, is a founding board member of Charities for Children, and serves on the Place of Hope Planned Giving Council. In support of his passion for the arts and education, Mr. Mayes serves on the capital campaign committee for the Center for Creative Education. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association.

Ms. Howden has worked at The Palm Beach Post for 20 years and is currently Vice President of Community Relations and Marketing. She has been an active Cultural Council board member since 2003 and also served on the board from 1992 to 1998. Ms. Howden is founding president of the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition and past president of the Education Foundation, Leadership Palm Beach County and The Center for Information & Crisis Services, Inc. She currently is also on the board of Forum Club of the Palm Beaches and the Education Foundation. She was the 1997-98 Campaign Chairman for United Way of Palm Beach County and was Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2000-2002.

Michael Bracci is President of the Palm Beach/Martin County Region Personal Financial Services for Northern Trust, NA. He is also trustee and treasurer of the Town of Palm Beach United Way. He is a board member of the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation and the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition. He is also a member of the Palm Beach County Economic Council and a Trustee of the Palm Beach Opera.

Pamela O. Dean is the Florida Regional President and the Managing Director of Harris Private Bank in West Palm Beach. Ms. Dean also serves on the Corporate Board of the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County and the Finance Committee of The Norton Museum of Art.

The Palm Beach County Cultural Council is a multi-faceted organization with top priorities that include marketing the county for cultural tourism, advocating for cultural funding, supporting arts education and providing grants to cultural organizations and artists.

The Palm Beach County Cultural Council was founded in 1978 by Alexander W. Dreyfoos as the Palm Beach County Council of the Arts to develop, coordinate and promote the arts and cultural activities throughout Palm Beach County. It is officially recognized by the Board of County Commissioners as the County's advisory agency for cultural development and administers a portion of local tourist development funds under contract with county government. It is an independent nonprofit membership organization with 501(c)(3) federal tax-exempt status, Florida Registration number SC01489. All contributions are deductible to the full extent of the law.
