|
July 2005
Hallandale Hebrew School began over 20 years ago in Hollywood, Florida. Over the years more than 3000 boys and girls have participated and benefited from South Broward Countys Chabad Hebrew School network. Originally the school was called Free Hebrew for Juniors, with branches in Pembroke Pines, Hollywood and Hallandale. Today, Chabad of South Broward has four Hebrew Schools, each financially independent of each other. They are located in Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Cooper City, and Weston.
The Hallandale Hebrew School emphasizes love for Judaism in a relaxed setting for every boy and girl. Hallandale Hebrew School will be back in session August 28th. It runs every Sunday during the school year from 10am-12:30pm, for boys and girls ages 5-12. The school runs exciting and innovating programs for each age group.
The program for ages 5-6 is called First Taste. This program is designed to grab a childs attention with art, drama & games, exposure to Aleph-Bet, Torah Tales, prayer through song & holiday studies. The program for ages 7-12 is for the more advanced, and includes Hebrew & Judaic studies, learning to read & write Hebrew and gaining the appreciation of the who, what, when & why of Jewish life. Bat/Bar Mitzvah lessons are also offered for each boy or girl. Also offered is Chabad Tutorial Program for girls, a one-on-one learning program at the childs own pace (Wednesdays at 7pm).
