NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 2005 “WALK OF RECOGNITION” AWARD

BOCA RATON, Fla.—The Boca Raton Historical Society is seeking nominations for candidates for induction into the 2005 “Walk of Recognition” located at Royal Palm Place. Since its inception in 1997, 38 deserving residents have received ‘stars’ for this prestigious community award. The Walk of Recognition recognizes individuals who have contributed to the community of Boca Raton and enriched the lives of citizens.

A cornerstone of the community and supporter of numerous organizations in the area, Marta Batmasian originally conceived the award which has become an annual community program organized and maintained by the Historical Society. Last years recipients were Dr. Donald Curl and Ruth McGoldrick.

“We need the help of our community in nominating individuals who serve the community outside of their normal everyday job,” said Mary Csar, Executive Director of the Boca Raton Historical Society. “We encourage people to take part in the nomination process to ensure a strong showing of the many community service-minded residents who live in our community”, she said.

An independent panel of judges reviews each application and selects two to three outstanding community leaders. Each of the recipients will have their names carved into a black granite plaque and placed on the “Walk of Recognition” monument at Royal Palm Place May 4, during an induction ceremony. The plaques are underwritten by Marta Batmasian as part of her commitment to her community.

Walk of Recognition
Nominations are open to the residents of Boca Raton. This includes the west Boca Raton as well. Nominations not selected during one cycle year (2004) are resubmitted to the judging panel for an additional year. Nomination forms for this year’s Walk of Recognition Award are available by on-line at www.bocahistory.org or by calling the Boca Raton Historical Society at (561) 395-6766 ext. 100.
