A Good Piece of Advice
to listen to even if you are not in pain

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed
each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and
makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
Her husband of 70 years recently passed away,
making the move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home,
she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her
walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room,
including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window.

"I love it," she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having
just been presented with a new puppy.

"Mrs. Jones, you haven't seen the room ... just wait."

"That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied.

"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my
room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how
I arrange my mind.

I already decided to love it. It's a decision I make every morning when
I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the
difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out
of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new
day and all the happy memories I've stored away just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account: you withdraw from it what you've
put in.

So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank
account of memories. Thank you for your part in filling my Memory
bank. I am still depositing."

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Now, STOP!

Motivational Quotes

For a long time

For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life.
But there was always some obstacle in the way,
something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business,
time to still be served, a debt to be paid.
Then life would begin.
At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.
Alfred D Souza

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs
and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you.
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting.
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream -- and not make dreams your master;
If you can think -- and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: Hold on!
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings -- nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And -- which is more -- you'll be a Man, my son!
Rudyard Kipling
