The Second Annual Sneak Peek Season Soirée, A Young Friends Cultural Collaborative proved to be another festive beginning to what is sure to be a rich cultural season this year in Palm Beach County.
The fête attracted over 300 Young Friends and supporters of arts and culture to the Harriet Theater at CityPlace. Attendees enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while exploring volunteer and membership opportunities and viewing highlights of upcoming cultural events. The Soirée was conceived by co-chair Deirdre Sykes-Shapiro. Hosts were the Palm Beach County Cultural Council and the Young Friends Cultural Collaborative, which is comprised of twelve Young Friends groups associated with non-profit cultural organizations.
This may be the only event where you can enjoy great food and great company while exploring what some of the most interesting cultural organizations in Palm Beach County have planned for the upcoming season, says Sonya Davis, Vice President, Services and Education for the Cultural Council.
The twelve organizations that participated are:
The Boca Raton Museum of Art
Boca Raton Historical Society
Kravis Center for the Performing Arts
Historical Society of Palm Beach County
Miami City Ballet
Museum of Lifestyle and Fashion History
Norton Museum of Art
Palm Beach Opera
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens
Old School Square
Urban League
Young Friends of the Palm Beach Zoo
Ms. Davis adds that the Soirée was particularly special this year as it provided the attendees with both a celebration of post-Wilma hurricane recovery and a preview of the great cultural season ahead of us. The Soirée also served as a collection point for Channel Fives Food for Families program. Approximately 80 pounds of non-perishable food was donated during the evening.
In attendance were civic and professional association members from organizations including the Corporate Ambassadors, Junior League of the Palm Beaches, Junior League of Boca Raton, Moms Club of the Palm Beaches, Young Lawyers section of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and the West Palm 100. The evening culminated with co-chairs, Sykes-Shapiro and Janet Murphy, presenting numerous door prizes from the cultural organizations.
Lead sponsors for the event were Braman Motorcars and The Palm Beach Post; additional sponsors included Wilesmith Advertising & Design, Continental Catering, the Harriet Himmel Theater, WXEL and Dewars 12 Scotch.
