Free Grant Workshop Rescheduled

A grant workshop for the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowships for Visual and Media Artists that was originally scheduled for August 25 at the Lighthouse Center for the Arts has been rescheduled for September 14 from 1:00 to 2:30 p because of hurricane Katrina.
Awards of $15,000 and $7,500 are available to South Florida visual and media artists through the South Florida Cultural Consortium. The application and guidelines are available at the Palm Beach County Cultural Council website: click here the Council’s office, or they can be mailed upon request.
The application deadline is October 3, 2005.
The South Florida Cultural Consortium is an alliance of local arts agencies from Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties. The Consortium’s Fellowship Program assists eligible visual and media artists living in South Florida through direct grants awarded solely on the basis of creative excellence, to improve artistic skills and encourage career development.
The South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowships for Visual and Media Artists recognizes professional artists who:
Have established a recognized body of original works of art within an artistic discipline created over a sustained period of time.
Have established a track record of exhibitions/screenings and critical commentary regarding their work.
Are pursuing this work as a means of livelihood and/or a way to achieve the highest level of professional recognition.
To be eligible, professional artists must be over 18 years of age and be a resident of Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, or Martin counties for one year or more at the time of application.

The South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowships for Visual and Media Artists workshop is free and open to the public. Staff will provide helpful information about the application and grant process. Artists are encouraged to attend.
