Boca Raton, FL- Spanish River High School will be the place to be on March 24-25, 2007 when twenty teams take to the track for The Relay for Life to benefit The American Cancer Society beginning at 2:00 PM and running until 8:00 AM. Relay for Life is a community event where teams participate in a myriad of events including a run/walk for 18 hours.
The public is invited to attend this event. The two major high lights of the event are The Survivors Ceremony at 5:00 PM, where all cancer survivors are invited to take part in the ceremony. At 9:00 PM there is the Luminaria Ceremony, which honors and remembers those affected by cancer through a candle lighting program in which the candles are lit and left to burn for the evening. Luminaria can be purchased at the site for $5 per luminaria bag.
" This is a fantastic way for the community to come together and honor those affected by cancer. Our goal is to raise $105,000 to help those affected by cancer through education, advocacy, research, and services," stated Jonathan Lederman, team captain of Lederman's Heroes.
