Boca Raton, FL- When Jonathan Lederman, 41 of Boca Raton, FL was diagnosed with a learning disability in the 4th grade and told he would never complete high school it lit a spark that has grown into a fire with a mission to help other people excel." When I had a 6th grade teacher tell me I wouldn't amount to much, I got angry and made a commitment to work hard and prove all the doubter's wrong," said Lederman.
In 1987 Lederman earned a BBA in marketing from Hofstra University. In the 20 years since then Lederman has been committed to helping others as illustrated by his 18 years of involvement with The Junior Chamber of Commerce/Jaycees, where he earned the highest honor a Jaycees member could achieve a Junior Chamber International Senatorship.
In July of 2002 Lederman joined The U.S. Peace Corps, where he would serve as a Community Services Educator for at-risk youth in The Philippines. Upon returning from The Philippines Lederman became a volunteer with The American Cancer Society and formed a team for The Relay for Life, an 18-hour run/walk to honor and remember those affected by cancer. " My team was a mighty team of one the first year. Since then I have been able to attract people to help each year and help raise funds to help those affected by cancer through education, advocacy, research, and services.
In March of 2007 Lederman's Heroes had 6 team members and raised over $2,000 for which I am very proud." Lederman is now planning to have a team in The March 2008 Relay for Life and hopes to attract many more people to join him in his quest to help other people excel. Lederman will host a gathering at The Reflections of Boca Del Mar Pool on April 22, 2007 at 2:00 PM to begin the process of forming a Relay for Life Team for March of 2008. " The early we can start with our efforts the better chance we have to make a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer," said Lederman.
