As many experts had stated before the construction, building a hard surface against the Indian River Lagoon would in effect wash the beach out. Here is an area that shows that the experts were right on target. Maybe that is why St. Lucie County, SFWMD and Army Corp. were so eager to avoid environmental impact studies. Also notice the different size in the blocks, as you can see they used different size blocks even though the plans did not call for this.   As many of you were told that the concrete would only be the bottom 6 feet of the embankment, you too were misled to believe this, the average height of the concrete is 12- 15 feet high. As for interlocking mat there is nothing tying one mat to the next one, they are just laid side by side.
