EDRI DEBUTS ONLINE RESEARCH MATRIX

WEST PALM BEACH—(09/22/2005) In the interest of bolstering local economic data gathering and analysis capabilities, the Economic Development Research Institute (EDRI) today unveiled its Economic Development Study Review (EDSR). The EDSR provides a synopsis of recent economic development studies from across the Southeast Florida Region, along with information on where to go to request the full report. The matrix takes note of each study’s primary themes, data indicators and key findings.
Compiled from a review of 40 studies, the directory is available in a user-friendly format on the organization’s website, click here and will be updated on a quarterly basis. EDRI will p rovide full copies of the reports online when available.
EDRI Executive Director Greta von Unruh developed the matrix concept during the first phase of research for the agency’s economic studies on Palm Beach County and the Southeast Florida region, due to be released later this year.
“I have met with economic development organizations up and down the coast and they were all saying the same thing: there might be a new industry or tax related study, but no one knew how to get a hold of it. We decided to step in and make EDRI a “hub” of information related to the economic prosperity of Palm Beach County and the greater region. If someone has done some relevant research on our area, we will try to get it up on our web and available to the public”, said von Unruh.

Established in April 2003, EDRI ( Click Here to read first article) was formed in response to growing concerns about the ability of Palm Beach County to compete effectively in today’s global economy. A board of directors comprised of area business leaders and government officials envisions an institute to stimulate creative thinking and support innovative approaches to the region’s economic challenges by producing quality economic development research and supporting economic development initiatives.
A nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, EDRI is modeled after actionable research organizations that are instrumental in being a catalyst for economic prosperity in other areas of the United States.
