When a storm threatens

Inside the home:
Refill special medications
Monitor news
Stock heavy duty garbage bags for
post-storm clenaup
Set the refrigerator at its coldest setting in anticipation of power failure
Charge rechargeable cellular phones, flashlights, battteries, power screwdrivers, and drills
Check fashlight and radio
batteries have extras
If you plan to leave
start packing now
Get your key documents- passports, wills, contracts, insurance papers,car titles, deeds, leases, and tax information in to a dry place
Outside the home:
Get cash
Limit traveling to necessary trips
Don't fill gasoline cans they are a fire hazard
Prepare your pool DO NOT DRAIN IT
Fill vechicle fuel tank
Fill the bathtub for a soruce of water




When a warning is issued & the storm is approaching

Inside the home:
Move furniture away from windows or
cover with plastic
Move as many valuables as possible off the floor to limit flooding damgage
Secure anything inside your home that can
be thrown around
Have a battery operqated radio or
television available
Outside the home:
Get shutters, storm panels, or plywood in place on windows if you havent done so already
Remove swings and tarps from swings sets and tie down anything that you can't biring inside
Don't tape windows it can create
daggers of glass
Move grills, patio furniture,and potted plants into your house or garage
