TALLAHASSEE, April 6, 2004 -- Applicants are being sought to fill a judicial vacancy in the Hamilton County Court as a result of the death of County Judge David E. Bembry, effective immediately.
Applicants for the judicial position must be members in good standing of The Florida Bar, must be electors of the State of Florida and must reside in Hamilton County, Florida, upon assuming office. An original plus nine (9) copies of the completed application must be received by Mr. Norris no later than 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2004. In the past, applicants who failed to strictly comply with the application deadline and filing requirements were treated as if they had not applied at all. Interviews will be held on Monday, May 17, 2004, in the Hamilton County Courthouse in Jasper, Florida.
Applications will be screened by the Third Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, which will submit at least three but not more than six names to the Governor.

Thirteenth Circuit Court Judicial Vacancy

TALLAHASSEE, April 22, 2004 -- The Thirteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is now accepting applications for the circuit judge position vacated as a result of the recent death of the Honorable Robert J. Simms. Applicants must be residents of Hillsborough County, registered voters, and a member of The Florida Bar for the past five years.
Applications may be downloaded from The Florida Bar’s Web site, floridabar.org, or picked up from the office of the Chair, C. Howard Hunter, Esq., 101 E. The deadline for submission of completed applications is Monday, May 10, 2004, at 5 p.m. Applicants must submit an original plus nine copies of the completed application, and supplements A and B, to Mr. Hunter no later than 5 p.m., May 10, 2004. Applications which are not complete will not be considered. Applicants and the public will be advised by subsequent press release regarding the dates of Judicial Nominating Commission meetings to review the applications and interview selected applicants.
When obtaining or submitting an application, applicants will be asked to provide their name, address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address to facilitate communications with the Commission during the application process.
The Commission will submit a slate of nominees for the vacant judgeship to the Governor on or before Monday, June 14, 2004.
