TALLAHASSEE, Dec. 7, 2004 -- The Third Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is now accepting applications to fill a judicial vacancy in the Third Judicial Circuit Court as a result of the retirement of Circuit Judge Thomas J. Kennon, Jr., effective February 28, 2005.
Applicants for the judicial position must be a member of The Florida Bar for the past five (5) years, a registered voter, and must reside in a county located in the Third Judicial Circuit upon assuming office. Applications may be obtained from Commission Chair, Guy W. Norris, 253 N.W. Main Boulevard, Lake City, Florida 32055, phone 386-752-7240. Applications may also be obtained from The Florida Bar Web site at www.flabar.org.
An original and nine (9) copies of the completed application must be received by Mr. Norris no later than 2 p.m. on January 5, 2005. In the past, applicants who failed to strictly comply with the application deadline and filing requirements were treated as if they had not applied at all. Interviews will be held on Friday, January 14, 2005, in Conference Room A at the Suwannee County Courthouse, in Live Oak, Florida. Applications will be screened by the Third Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, which will submit at least three but not more than six names to the Governor.

TWO NEWLY ELECTED TO FLORIDA BAR BOARD OF GOVERNORS; 14 INCUMBENTS RE-ELECTED; 14 TO RUN FOR SEVEN SEATS

TALLAHASSEE, Dec. 16, 2004 --Two Florida Bar members have been newly elected to The Florida Bar Board of Governors and 14 incumbents have been re-elected without opposition. Fourteen Bar members will contest for seven Board of Governors seats in March's board elections. All Board members take office June 24, 2005.
In addition, Jacksonville attorney Henry M. Coxe, III, has been elected president-elect designate of The Florida Bar. Coxe will become president-elect during the Bars annual meeting in Orlando in June 2005 and president in June 2006.
New Board members - for a two-year term - elected without opposition are:
· Denise A. Lyn, Inverness, Fifth Circuit, Seat 1, replaces William H. Phelan, Jr. who was first elected to the Board in 1999.
