TALLAHASSEE, Nov. 16, 2004 -- Lawyers who have freely given their time and expertise in making legal services available to the poor are being sought for public recognition by the Florida Supreme Court and The Florida Bar.
The Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award is given to an outstanding attorney in each of the state’s judicial circuits.
The Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award is a statewide award presented by the Chief Justice to an individual attorney who exemplifies the highest ideals of the profession in assuring the availability of legal services to the poor. The award is named for the late Miami civil rights lawyer Tobias Simon.
The Chief Justice’s Law Firm Commendation is a statewide award that recognizes a law firm which has demonstrated a significant contribution in the provision of legal services to individuals or groups on a pro bono basis that cannot otherwise afford the services.
The Voluntary Bar Association Pro Bono Service Award presented by the Chief Justice is a statewide award to recognize, when appropriate, a voluntary bar association which has demonstrated a significant contribution in the delivery of legal services to individuals or groups on a pro bono basis that cannot otherwise afford the services.

FLORIDA BAR SPEAKERS BUREAU OFFERS SPEAKERS ON REAL ESTATE LAW

TALLAHASSEE, Dec. 6, 2004 -- The Florida Bar Speakers Bureau provides volunteer attorneys speakers for educational, professional, civic, and community organizations throughout Florida, at no cost to your organization.
Among the more than 1500 speaker volunteers are attorneys who have experience in commercial real estate law, which includes the leasing, building, buying and selling of businesses, and the refinancing of homes. Attorney volunteers can present these topics to help groups with business owner members who are recovering from damages caused by Florida’s 2004 hurricane season, as well as other business owners who anticipate selling, or investing in a business location.
Speakers are also available on topics ranging from the Constitution, to identity theft, DUI, immigration, and legal rights of new adults.
