COUNTY JUDGE VACANCY– ALACHUA COUNTY – EIGHTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT

TALLAHASSEE -- The Eighth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Committee announces a vacancy in the County Court of Alachua County due to the resignation of Phyllis D. Kotey effective June 30, 2004.

Applicants must have been a member of The Florida Bar for the preceding five (5) years, a registered voter and a resident of the territorial jurisdiction of the court.

Applications and a list of members of the JNC can be obtained from Kevin D. Jurecko, Esquire, Member, Eighth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Committee, 1 Southeast First Avenue, Gainesville, Florida, 32601 and on The Florida Bar’s Web site (www.flabar.org). Ten (10) copies of the completed application and attachments must be delivered to Kevin D. The deadline for submission of the application is 5 p.m., June 7, 2004.

GOVERNOR BUSH APPOINTS AMY M. WILLIAMS TO THE SIXTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT COURT


May 24, 2004

TALLAHASSEE -- Governor Jeb Bush announced the appointment of Amy M. Williams to the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court on Tuesday, May 18. Williams will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Charles W. Cope.

Williams, 49, of St. Petersburg, is currently a Pinellas County Judge, a position she has had since 1999. She is a member of the St. Petersburg Bar Association and the Clearwater Bar Association.

Williams received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in 1977, and her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 1980.
