HIGHEST BID EVER PAID FOR A BOTTLE OF SPANISH WINE

Madrid, 11 January 2004, Last february 7th, a bottle from the prestigious winery Vega Sicilia reached the highest price ever paid for a bottle of Spanish wine. This took place at a charity auction organised by the Naples Winter Wine Festival, Florida, USA. The price paid for this Doble Magnum of Vega Sicilia nico 1986 was 65,000 dollars, amply surpassing the previous record held by this winery, set at 45,000 dollars and also reached at an auction.

This edition of The Naples Winter Wine Charity Festival managed to raise seven million dollars in a single afternoon. The funds raised by this organisation are donated to 15 associations as well as to charity centres.
